So I am indecisive. After spending hours digging and separating the periwinkle (vinca) vine and planting it in the new landscaping area in the front yard... Today I decided to rip it all out and put something different in there.
I HATE VINES! How could I forget? How could I choose to plant a vine in my new landscaping?! The world will never know.
Here's the new stuff.
Hostas from the back yard and new Coral Bells.
I like this MUCH better.
You may be wondering what we did with the section of space near the driveway where all those nasty vines came from. Well so far, we planted Blanket Flower along the driveway...
This is just starting to bloom.
And along the back yard side we planted Shasta Daisies, Painted Daisies, and Orange Butterfly Flower.
So far, we have one daisy!
Then we started attacking the violets that are attacking our back yard and flower bed.
After maybe 4 hours of digging, pulling, shaking, ripping... this is how far we are.
You see WAY in the back the empty spot. Our poor Peonies and Lilies are being overtaken!
All this still has to go...
...and this.
Our Peonies are almost blooming!
Above is our $3.75 apricot hibiscus!
Lets hope it grows and blooms!
We also had a third hydrangea bush in the front yard that was hiding behind the big bushes.
So we dug it up, split it, and replanted it out front by the other hydrangeas.
We still have much more yard work to do. Such as, kill grubs, grow grass, get rid of violets in the lawn, remove 3 HUGE bushes on the other side of the house, trim many bushes in front and back, and the list goes on, and on, and on, and on...
Since Jason and I have been VERY busy working, I have decided to leave you all with a little homework today. This is your PICTURE to ponder. But this time, we would like some feedback. Please leave us a comment and help us out.
WHAT IN THE WORLD CAN THIS BE?
Is it a root?
Is it a vine?
Is it a pipe?
Is it a mysterious ground creature?
Details: It's located in the back yard near the fence and the garage.
There used to be a tree behind the fence approx 5 ft from where this picture was taken.
The "thing" is about 5 inches in diameter and goes on for who knows how far.
It is orange in color with purple lines.
It's only about 1 inch under the surface.
HELP?
From the pic it looks like a carrot to me, but I know it's not... I think it might be a root from something.---Sara
